Neso, a pseudonymous developer at NFT marketplace Gem.xyz, was released from his contract after the team was made aware of allegations of sexual misconduct.

"After immediately undertaking a review of the allegations, we determined the actions to be in clear violation of our values and expectations, and we exited Neso immediately", co-founder Lorens Huculak said on the project's Discord.

Since Neso and many other people in the decentralized finance sector hide behind pseudonyms, background checks are nearly impossible.

Just in January, the DeFi community behind the project Wonderland had to find out that "Sifu", a core member of the team, was previously the co-founder of the infamous Canadian exchange QuadrigaCX, which left many people destitute.

While the co-founder Huculak referred to Neso as an anonymous developer, in a prior interview with Nansen, Neso was listed as a co-founder. Huculak would not confirm if Neso is a shareholder of the registered firm behind the project.
