How to setup a MetaMask wallet?

MetaMask is a decentralized hot wallet solution. It works as an Ethereum Browser and Ether wallet. You can get a MetaMask wallet by installing the add-on on your browser or by downloading the MetaMask app on your smartphone.

Open up your browser and google ‘MetaMask addon’. Navigate to the webstore of your browser and install it.

When installed, click on the MetaMask icon on the top right corner of your browser. This will open up the user interface of MetaMask. You have to read and accept MetaMask’s terms of use.

Click on 'Get Started' and choose 'Create a wallet'.

Now you can enter and confirm a password of your choice. Click ‘Create’ for a new MetaMask account. This account enables you to send and receive Ether, ERC20 tokens and also to deploy Smart Contracts.

MetaMask will show you a 12 word recovery key (Seed) as shown below.

These 12 words are the only option to restore your MetaMask wallet if you forget your password or can’t access your wallet for any other reason. Therefore these 12 words should be written down and stored in a safe location. After you have saved your seed phrase click on ‘Next’. Now you have to confirm your seed phrase by entering it in the field.

Now you have your MetaMask wallet all set up.
