According to a survey conducted by U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, almost 50% of all cryptocurrency holders in the U.S., Latin America, and Asia purchased their first digital assets in 2021.

Nearly 30,000 across 20 countries took part in the survey and it shows that 2021 was a great year for crypto, regarding further adoption.

While 20% of Americans hold crypto assets, Gemini found out that 41% of the people surveyed in Brazil and Indonesia reported crypto ownership.

Gemini found that 79% of people who reported owning crypto last year said they chose to purchase the digital assets for their long-term investment potential.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the adoption momentum can keep pace this year.
